Palomar/Pomerado Hospital is pleased to announce the 11th Annual Sexual Assault Team Training Program. The program will be held from March 28th through April 1st , 2000 (optional training’s are are scheduled on March 27th).

The 40-hour program is designed for investigators, medical professionals, and criminal justice personnel who are interested in developing their roles as interdisciplinary team members. The training focus is on the provision of a victim sensitive, multidisciplinary team approach to the care of the victim of sexual violence.

Topics to be examined include:

· An understanding of the Sexual Assault Response Team approach
· Roles of Team Members
· Victim Analysis
· Offender Behavior
· Human sexual response and mechanism of injury
· Medical forensic interview techniques
· Examination of the male and female victim
· Examination of the suspect
· Identification and documentation of injury
· Identification, collection, and preservation of evidence
· Colposcopic techniques
· Evidence and the crime lab
· Advocacy services of survivors
· Preparation of the medical professional for the court room
· How to start a "SART" program at your facility
· Case studies

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION: This course is conducted according to the Office of Criminal Justice Planning (OCJP) guidelines, State of California. Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 195, for 35 contact hours. Individuals wishing a Certificate of Completion must complete this didactic program as well as a separate 40 hour preceptorship to complete the course. The certificate will be mailed upon receipt of paperwork documenting completion of 40 Hour preceptorship.
