  2. Manifestation of the Rape Trauma Syndrome.
  3. To recognize patterns of injury in sexual assault.
  4. Methods used to profile rapists.
  5. Resources available to the victim.
  6. Roles and responsibilities of the police.
  7. Laws regarding rape and other sexual offenses.
  8. What to expect in a court of law and responsibilities as an expert witness.
  9. Proper evidence collection and preservation.
  10. Photographic techniques used to document injuries.
  11. Accurate documentation of injuries and the interview process.
  12. Roles and responsibilities of the State's Attorney Office.
  13. Critical incident and stress management techniques.
  14. Care for the care giver.
  


Seminar II
November 7-9, 2001

Participant will learn:
  1. Recognize sexual trauma in children.
  2. Methods used to profile the child sexual abuser.
  3. Discuss resources available to the pediatric victim.
  4. Laws regarding reporting child abuse, assault, and neglect.
  5. Accurate documentation of the interview process and injuries found as a result of possible sexual assault/abuse.
  6. Roles and responsibilities of the State's Attorney Office in child sexual assault& abuse cases.
  7. Roles and responsibilities of the police officer.
  8. Differentiate aspects of chronic medical conditions vs. injuries due to sexual assault & abuse.
  9. What is expected from you as the expert witness in a court of law.
  10. Mock trial.



Continuing Education Credit
Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing # CED 10195, for 10 contact hours per day for $10, processing fee to be paid at time of conference.

Target Audience:
This program is designed for all nurses interested in understanding SAFNE duties, and police officers that manage victims of sexual assault/abuse.
